CO2

Created 2009-09-24, last updated 2009-09-24
In an effort to absorb carbon emission from the atmosphere, a group of scientists are dumping a ton of iron ore into the Indian Ocean. Iron causes plankton to grow which, though it does not neutralize CO2, absorbs it and stores it until it is destroyed or dies. Plankton are known to live hundreds of years. However, this is a controversial experiment because, according to some scientists, a single volcanic eruption neutralizes most, if not all, negative carbon gasses that exist in the atmosphere.
